The organizers of the Course on Magnetic Crystallography, Erice (Italy) 31st May 9th June 2019, are aware of the IUCr Gender Balance distribution Policy and will make every possible effort to achieve an equal gender balance distribution among participants.
Once applications have been received, the selection process will give particular attention to students and other young scientists. And as is usual for the ISCoC courses, young scientists will be invited to present their own results, which is an excellent opportunity for them to discuss their research with the leading experts in their research field. The same gender balance policy will be applied to the selection of young-scientist presentations.
The course is being sponsored and organized by the IUCr Commission on Magnetic Structures, which was mentioned favorably at the recent congress in Hyderabad for its proactive efforts to improve its own gender balance. Each of the women on the commission will be active participants in the organization and execution of the course. The organizers hope that the involvement of female organizers and presenters next summer will inspire young female scientists and increase the percentage of female participants in future ISCoC courses.
