The yellow arrival form may be downloaded by clicking here

1. Arrival (search for orange poster, scarves, T-shirt...). All participants should arrive in Erice on June 4th, 2009, before 20:00. However, large tolerance is foreseen for accidental delays (see blue line on point 7. below). Accomodation at the Majorana Centre prior to June 4th might be tolerated (on June 3th) only if schedules and connections force passengers to land very late at Palermo airport. In the airport, look for the orange dressed organizers or for the course announcement being waived by the Majorana Centre drivers.

2. Free transportation to Erice (see image) from Palermo and Trapani airport will be planned by the organizers for all arrivals on June 4 and for the return day, June 14, by exploiting the data collected with the yellow "arrival form" (see 5. below). Transfers outside these dates will have to be charged.

3. No pick-up scheme is planned to meet arrivals at Palermo rail station, which is far from city centre and quite far from airport. Please, just follow instructions on point 4. below or take a train; from Palermo Rail Station to Airport there are 19 train connections (Trinacria Express), from 4.45 to 21.40 (day-light frequency approx. each hour), cost 4.5 Euro; and Airport to Palermo from 00.25 to 22.40. The four stops on the way - Vespri, Orleans, Notarbartolo, nearest to Centre (taxi stand available), and Francia - follow an external line, skipping the City Centre. Notarbartolo is the best station if you travel from Airport to reach City Centre.

4. Early Arrival. Participants arriving at Palermo earlier, may join the transportation described in 2., if they reach Palermo airport on June 4, before 17:00. The bus by the company Prestia & Comande' joins Palermo rail station to the airport. The bus stops also at the central Piazza Politeama, see the Palermo map. For a more convenient train connection see 3. above. Specify your plan in the yellow "arrival form".

5. Arrival Form (link under the title above...). All lecturers and selected applicants should complete the yellow arrival form and email or fax (+39 049 8275 239) it before May 10, 2009 to Paola Spadon (paola.spadon@unipd.it) in Padova in order to obtain the hardly needed assistance on arrival.

PLEASE, ENSURE THAT YOUR FORM
i. IS ACCURATE, ii. ARRIVES ON TIME

i.e. a. your full names and address, including email, are printed (please, avoid handwriting...) in a complete way; b. the phone number must include the country and area codes; c. the telegraphic address should be short ! In the absence of an acronym for your institution, e.g. CCSEM for the Majorana Centre, your home address is preferable.

6. Anyone who cannot fit into the above pattern should contact the Padova address in advance for alternatives, or make his/her own way to Erice. This presents various difficulties (see image, again), such as very tricky train or bus connections and the high cost of taxis. Taxi fares span from 120 Euro for Palermo airport to Erice, to approximately 50 Euro for Palermo city to airport. From Italy, the phone number to be dialled to reach the Majorana Centre is 0923 869 133. From abroad, +39 0923 869 133.

7. Bookings. Please, try to arrange your travel plans so that you show up at Palermo airport (arrivals hall) on June 4 within 17.00. This is a great help to local organizers who will meet you; both late decisions and the wide choice of flights tend to scatter arrivals. However, whatever your landing time will be, forty meetings organized since 1974 should reassure you that

all "announced" airport arrivals on June 4 will be assisted.

8. Return journey. It is best to OK-book your return flight in advance. Bus transport to Palermo airport will be arranged at no cost only for those leaving Erice on June 14, 2009. Individual plans will also be assisted, but transfer charges will have to be applied. The present "early" flight departures from Palermo are scheduled at about 6:15 a.m. and will be assisted, as well. It will be possible to catch an early flight if you are ready to leave Erice two hours before aircraft departure. Be sure to have an alarm clock with you.

9. Erice roads are narrow so those arriving by the organized course bus will be dropped at Porta Trapani. This is out of the walls of the town and there is a 200 yards walk UP to the Majorana Centre. Upon leaving the bus, please check if your baggage (always clearly labelled) is present. Cars are banned from the town centre: the car park is in Viale Pepoli. DO NOT leave any item in the car.
